The members of the Board of Fire Commissioners realized their existing facility would need to grow in order to properly serve the community. With the existing site severely restricted in its size, the Board purchased a nearby vacant plot of land to construct a new facility.
Improved Fire Station
The new 20,000 SF facility includes 5 apparatus bays with related firematic support, including a decontamination and laundry room, SCBA room, tool/equipment room, hose room and storage space.
Comfortable Lounge Space
Firefighters are able to relax and take breaks in an updated living room space with flat screen TVs, a fire place, commercial-style kitchen, and an outdoor patio, promoting health and well-being.
Training Room
A new training room provides a dedicated space for on-site instruction, meetings, and seminars.
Project Scope
The fire district's existing site offered no opportunity for expansion to provide for future fire service needs of the community, coupled with extensive operational and building deficiencies.
The new 20,000 SF fire station includes a mezzanine level above five apparatus bays with related firematic support. Administrative and public functions provide for a generous meeting and event hall, training room, department and commissioner offices, and a commercial-style kitchen. The building includes efficient radiant floor heat, and the apparatus bays, with front and rear aprons, feature embedded snow-melt systems. New building systems optimize energy efficiency, reduce maintenance/operational costs, and provide optimal thermal comfort.
