Approved by voters in May 2021, the $28.2 million capital project at Malone CSD will impact health and safety, infrastructure, and educational programming across all five school buildings to better prepare students for future success.
Multi-Purpose Athletic Field
One of the most striking features of the project was the removal of the existing grass field and installation of a multi-purpose synthetic turf field. Designed on a hillside, the new bleachers cascade down from the school building. A new concession stand and increased parking at the field level improve accessibility and maximize enjoyment by all community members.
Auditorium Renovation
A complete upgrade of the existing auditorium at Franklin Academy provided new lighting and sound systems, new seating with improved ADA accessibility, acoustic upgrades, new flooring, and freshly painted walls and ceilings.
Pre-K Classroom Addition
A classroom addition at Davis Elementary School provided two new Pre-K classrooms with a separate building entrance for easy pick-up and drop-off. CSArch made sure to create an open design with areas for play, ample storage space, cubbies, and individual bathrooms for each classroom.
Project Scope
At Franklin Academy, additional improvements included boiler replacements, a complete roof replacement, pool tile replacement, and improvements to HVAC and ventilation systems.
The elementary schools received updated playground equipment that better meets safety and ADA standards, as well as roof replacements, exterior envelope restoration, and select art classroom renovations.
Middle school science classrooms were renovated with new lab tables, ceilings and flooring, upgraded technology, and increased storage space.
