Galway Central School District engaged CSArch to complete a $26.7 million capital improvement project. Approved by voters in May 2016, the project is a result of critical findings in the district's 2015 Building Condition Survey.
Educational and Community Space
Major renovations at the high school provided much-needed updates to existing space, encompassing cafeteria, gymnasium, and art, home and careers, and special education classroom improvements.
Auditorium Improvements
The high school auditorium received new seating, sound technology, and lighting to provide an updated space for performances, assemblies, and community events.
Site Work
A major reconfiguration of the drop-off and pick-up loops at the elementary school now separate bus traffic from car traffic and provide dedicated parking spaces for buses, improving safety and accessibility and alleviating congestion.
Project Scope
The $26.7 million capital improvement project at Galway Central School District was the result of two years of community forums and information sessions to develop a bond resolution that would address infrastructure concerns, improve health, safety, and accessibility, and enhance energy savings measures.
The district’s Building Condition Survey, completed by CSArch in 2015, formed the basis for much of the project scope. The majority of the project addresses critical infrastructure concerns, including building system upgrades, lighting improvements, and roofing, window, and ceiling replacements. Additional improvements provided renovations to educational, community, and support spaces, as well as athletic improvements to the softball field, running track, and tennis courts.
