With a goal to bolster facilities for its athletic teams and attract more students to the campus, SUNY Adirondack teamed with CSArch to develop a site master plan and transform the southern site of the campus into an outdoor athletic venue.
Multi-Sport Turf Field
Lined to accommodate the college's lacrosse, soccer, baseball, and softball programs, the facility features a turf playing surface to withstand harsh weather conditions and address scheduling issues that previously impacted athletic teams' ability to enjoy season-long use.
Field Amenities
The facility also includes new field lighting, dugouts, scoreboards, spectator seating, and batting cages to further enhance the student experience.
Project Scope
Shortly after bids were awarded in May 2020, a hold was placed on public funding of capital projects and temporarily stalled construction of the multi-sport turf field at SUNY Adirondack. Nearly 3 years later, the college was able to officially open the long-awaited facility, which will enhance the student experience and support additional programs with little downtime in between.
In addition to supporting the development of junior college athletes, the $5.7 million project invests in the surrounding community by adding to the mix of regional destinations for sports events and tournaments.
