Previously operating in a 633 SF space in the basement of Draper Hall, the University at Albany required a larger footprint to meet the growing demand for its eSports program.
Graphics
Working closely with the UAlbany graphics team, CSArch incorporated campus logos and colors into the space to create an exciting and welcoming space that celebrates UAlbany athletics.
Lighting
The lighting design alters between purple and gold throughout the space to delineate viewing and support space from competition space, drawing greater attention to the gaming stations.
Viewing Areas
In addition to seating areas within the space, CSArch added glass along the corridor wall to open up the space and provide views into the competition area.
Project Scope
As part of its architectural services term agreement with UAlbany, CSArch was selected to expand and relocate the eSports program from its current location to a 4,102 SF space in the basement of the Computing Center at the Uptown campus.
The project increased the station count from 18 to 66 and added a viewing area, broadcasting booth, staff stations, student locker area, and stage. Along with the addition of lighting, graphics, and audio-visual improvements, the space will allow the university to compete at a higher level, host competitions, and provide outreach opportunities for local high school students.
