In an effort to enhance the educational experience and expand student opportunities, the Hartford Central School District eyed an $9 million capital project in May 2022.
LGI Space
The existing music classrooms, courtyard, and a small section of the library were renovated into a multi-purpose, large group instruction (LGI) space. The space repurposes the cafeteria stage and features retractable seating to support a variety of uses.
Cafeteria
To increase seating capacity and provide a more social dining experience, the project removed the existing stage and created an additional 1,000 square feet of cafeteria space with new lighting, flooring, wall finishes, and flexible seating options.
Gymnasium Flooring
Original to the building's 1964 construction, the existing gym floor was beginning to show its age and wear and required a complete replacement. The new floor upgrades the space while addressing maintenance issues and ensuring student safety.
Music Renovations
The district's music department had outgrown its existing space and struggled to support the growth in its band and chorus programs. To increase rehearsal space and instrument storage, the existing girls locker room was demolished and reconstructed to house expanded chorus and band classrooms.
Project Scope
Approved by voters in May 2022, CSArch completed an $9 million capital project for Hartford CSD in September 2024. The project focused on both educational and infrastructure upgrades, including renovations to the middle/high school and elementary school music classrooms, cafeteria, large group instruction space, and library, as well as roof, sidewalk, and mechanical equipment replacements.
