CSArch Staff Highlights VR At “Third Thursday Talks!”

1.25.2019

CSArch continued its “ThirdThursday Talks!” series with a discussion covering our renovation work at Queensbury Union Free School District, and the use of virtual reality (VR) to aid project visualization. “ThirdThursdays Talks!” is an inter-office initiative for CSArch team members to share their work or ideas during fun and collaborative talks held on the third Thursday of each month. Group discussions vary in format, giving team members a flexible platform to share projects, lessons learned, innovative solutions through project pin-ups, “how-to” discussions and interactive games.

“Our ThirdThusday Talks! promotes a collaborative studio environment with open and engaging discussions,” said Dan Woodside, President of CSArch. “Getting together every month brings us all closer as a team.”

This month, the Queensbury team provided a staff update featuring photography of completed spaces, floor plans and renderings. Highlighting the use of VR as part of their design phase process, the team discussed the impact of the tool in helping the client visualize to the project. A short video demonstrated a VR walk-through that CSArch provided to Queensbury administration and staff members. Beginning from the exterior of the high school, users were able to virtually walk through the entrance to explore various classrooms and other spaces that will be a reality for them in Fall 2019, when the project is slated for completion.
